Stuart Britain

This isn't a usual question that you would see on Y Answers but if you can help me eben the slightest bit I...
Would greatly appreciate it. Please help if you can! The question is: Taking into consideration the theories of thinkers like Jeremy Bentham, John Stuart Mill, and Karl Marx and reformers like Robert Owen, imagine a scenario that would have allowed Britain to industrialize in a more humane fashion than happened.
I'm not sure, given Europe's entire history, that it could have industrialized any more humanely than it did. Its long history of violence and brutality and religious zealotry spawns the way the countries as a whole later developed, so if you were going to change everything, you'd have to go much farther back than industrialization.
But for purposes of your question, I'm imagining a scenario in which Britain industrialized more humanely. This means, in essence, that it didn't conquer other lands and force them into third-world economies, and it didn't join the flow of the scramble for Africa, or many other movements that swept through Europe.
Britain isn't exactly the only driving force in Europe, so it would either have become a neutral party (and one of the very few consequences would be no state of Israel in the middle east, and much less poverty and more industrialization in Africa, which could have possibly resulted in a much less or even non-existent problem of AIDS), or it would have been completely dominated by other factions in Europe (such as Germany during the wars), and would have no longer been Britain at all.

| | Arbella Stuart $87.62 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Arbella Stuart (or Arabella and/or Stewart ) (1575 27 September 1615) was an English Renaissance noblewoman who was for some time considered a possible successor to Queen Elizabeth I on the English throne. Arbella Stuart was a direct descendant of King Henry VII of England. As the only child of Charles Stuart, 1st Earl of Lennox, and Elizabeth Cavendish, she was a grandchild of Matthew Stewart, 4th Earl of Lennox, and Margaret Douglas, who was, in turn, the daughter of Margaret Tudor and Archibald Douglas, 6th Earl of Angus and granddaughter of Henry VII of England. Arbellas paternal grandparents, the 4th Earl of Lennox and Margaret Douglas, had two sons: Arbellas father Charles and his older brother, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, who became the second husband of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the father of James I of Great Britain. Arbellas maternal grandparents were Sir William Cavendish and Bess of Hardwick. In her final days, as a prisoner in the Tower of London, Lady Beauchamp (her married name), refusing to eat, fell ill, and died on 27 September 1615. She was buried in Westminster Abbey on 29 September 1615. True or False: Roy Keane is the best young coach in all of Britain.?
Stuart Pierce..?...could be Gareth Southgate if he beats United today. Truth I think, is that no other young coach except maybe Frank Riykaard dealt with their situation this season to make it as good as Roy Keane has at Sunderland. Hes keeping a mediocre team in the EPL, while still being free from the relegation battle. He put the icing on beating the despearate likes of Fulham FC today, thereby securing anything but an embarrassing finish in the world's most competitive football league.
Keane is without question the best up and coming young manager. The best indicator of that is that he recognizes he has made a lot of mistakes and freely reminds people all the time that he "has been a manager two minutes." Keane will be a great manager because he is a die-hard realist. If someone isn't cutting it, he'll bounce them from the club or take them off the pitch. He's never been afraid to tell the truth. I think he will end up managing at Man Utd in 3-5 years time. My prediction is he will have Sunderland in the UEFA Cup within 2 years.

Hello Malcolm,
Thank you for your comment. I'm always pleased to find out who comes across this blog and I recognised your name from one of your articles.
I'm trying to remember what the ref to Griffiths was in my notes (this is a quick internet visit). In “Stuart Britain” he refers to some portrait print adverts I didn't find, I think I meant that.
Best wishes,
Claire
