If you ran your own restaurant...?
Would it be a restaurant in an amusement park, fast food restaurant, a buffet, a diner - type restaurant, or one of those extremely fancy restaurants? Would you require each man to wear a jacket? Would they need to make reservations? What would you serve? The prices? What would the name of your restaurant be? How many workers would you hire? What would the pay be? Would you have some tables inside, some outside? What would your restaurant look like? Would there be a theme (Ex: Medieval times, underwater)? What music would play? Remember, this is YOUR restaurant. So, have fun!!
It would b a diner.. No I wouldn't have them wear a jacket.. U do not have to make reservations ...I would serve any food like hamburgers, fried chicken, French fries, and stuff like that..(no seafood).. I would name it wrap it up cuz I would serve alot of food so they could wrap it up and leave... I would hire 12 workers..Idk watt I would pay them..no I wouldn't have any tabels out side and it is like a disco theme all table are on the sides and in the middle is a HUGE dance floor... And as I said it would b a disco theme

Build your own medieval computer. You obviously wouldn’t be getting a few trillion flops, but I’d bet I could build a basic computer in a year or so, assuming I could figure out how to create a MOSFET…

I can understand your point in that when going to an activity it is best to let bygone be bygones. Go to learn like everyone else.
Have you considered that the 'farbs' who are attending in their non-period 'garb' are trying to enhance the atmosphere in their own way?
Perhaps they do not know the difference. In their minds they probably bought a tabard pattern, followed all of the directions, and now they have a period tabard. Right?
Although I am a proud LARPer I am not a living history buff by any means. Even so I usually make a face when someone suggests that we get all dressed up to go to a fair, reenactment, or other medieval events.
Simply put, it's not my event and they probably don't have a sign that says “Have your own medieval clothing? Feel free to dress up!”
I guess I'm just playing devil advocate here. People usually have good intentions even if they are misplaced.
