British Life Guards

British Army question?
Hi!
I was speaking to my Army careers advisor recently about choices of regiment. Originally I wanted to go R.L.C, as I felt it had a great variety of roles and I was quite keen to get involved in bomb disposal.
But recently, at my TA unit, I have discovered that I love drill. I told my advisor this and he just called me a masochistic git! I enjoy doing my ironing etc, and apparently this is quite common in guys like me who got Mum to do all that sort of stuff before any exposure to the military; we end up with awards like 'best turned-out cadet'.
My advisor said that if good drill and extreme pride in personal appearance are my focal points then I should consider a foot Guards regiment. I also enjoy the physical, outdoors life which I feel would be limited in the RLC.
Do you think the same? Thanks.
If you enjoy drill and being turned out well then the Guards would be ideal. Logistics are ok for those without your obvious joy in your appearance. Another regiment could be the RA but to be honest I reckon the Guards will fight for you.
Best of luck

| | Guards! Guards $16.44 Terry Pratchett mocks secret societies, royal pretenders, and the life of the humble beat cop in this eighth entry in the Discworld fantasy series. An ancient (well, ancient since last February) brotherhood attempts to restore the monarchy of the city of Ankh-Morpork through a complicated scheme involving the summoning of dragons. Pitted against them is the downtrodden Night Watch, which includes such notable personages as Captain Vimes, an alcoholic cynic with an unshakeable integrity, and new recruit Lance-Constable Carrot, a strapping, an unbelievably idealistic young man raised by dwarves. Captain Vimes and the Watch appear in several subsequent Discworld novels. |

Why was an illegal immigrant released on bail?
Iranian Esmahil Adhami was arrested for sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl and released on bail. A few weeks later he attacked and assaulted a 20 year old woman he had dragged into bushes in a park in Coventry, 6pm July 1st 2009. Sentencing him to four years the Judge told him "he would be placed on the sex offenders register for life, is banned from having contact with any girls under age 16 and that he was LIKELY to be deported on release from prison." His second victim was saved from very serious harm by a Rottweiler who chased him off and went back to guard her.
Is this really British law and British justice working here? The first time he appeared in court he was released on bail even though they knew he was an illegal and the second time the Judge warns he he MAY be deported??? What do you think?
The judicial system is a complete farce.
It's a pity the dog didn't rip him to pieces, which would have been justice, though I expect the dog would have been destroyed and its owner prosecuted.
No doubt,'Lessons have been learnt'!
Anyone with a criminal history, shouldn't be allowed in anyway. Those who transgress, even once, should be deported immediately, and to Hell with PC do gooders and the E.U Human Rights garbage!
