Leaders Mac Arthur

Admiral Nimitz, military leader of the south pacific in WW2?
in my notes, i have that D. Mac Arthur was the military leader of the South Pacific.
But i also have that Admiral Nimitz was the military leader of the South Pacific.
Which is correct?
Or are both correct?
the war in the Pacific was divided into two areas of responsibility....Mac was Supreme Allied Commander, Southwest Pacific Areas...which means he commanded US and Australian forces in the drive up through New Guinea and the landings into the Philippines, and would have commanded the invasion of Japan.
Nimitz was Supreme Allied Commander, Pacific Ocean Areas......ie everything else...... and wearing his other hat as Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet ( CincPac), ran the Guadalcanal campaign, the strikes into the Marianna's and Marshal Islands ( Tarawa, Guam, Saipan) , Iwo and Okinawa as well as the naval forces covering the Philippine liberation.
A divided chain of command, violating ever basic premise of war, it worked brilliantly ( except for a little problem with Halsey at the Philippine landings, but we'll skip that)

Davos 2010 - IdeasLab with Young Global Leaders - John McArthur
would we have lost the ww2 when our generals made a misstake for 6 yrs as they did now in Iraq?
the war in Europe was led by Eisenhower and by Mac Arthur in the Pacific......
If they had followed a misstaken policy for 6 yrs (without noticing those misstakes) USA and Europe would be in German control....Asia would have been unde Japanese control........not even talking about the useless loss of lives of our young guys.......What do we have to think about our leaders of this country????
If WWII was on CNN we would have lost.
Gen. Patton would have been fired along with Gen Macarthur because they werent politically correct, and we would all speak German.
