why did the British royal navy impress American sailors?

Many Brits would escape impressment by going onto American merchant ships, where pay and working conditions were much better. This gave the Brits the excuse to look for them on American ships. Americans had not yet become distinct from brits - their accents would have been as similar to ENglish as modern Australian would be - and many names would be the same as escaped sailors. Therefore, it was very easy - if you were looking for an escaped sailor - to make a mistake, and take on the wrong guy.
(That's how a Brit would explain it - Without mentioning that if they got the wrong guy, they didn't really care.)

How do I know if an African American woman is fake?
I just moved here (Virginia) because I am part of Joint Forces command with the Royal NAVY and US NAVY. The women are lovely here but everyone tells me to watch out for the African American women since they like to sleep around and use you for your money.
Is this true about most African American women?? or are the US NAVAL Sailors just telling me lies because they are still racist?
they are still racist. I'm a mixed race girl (I have lived in VA) and I'm very genuine. You will find not so genuine people in every race. That's why you need wisdom, discretion, and discernment with whomever you engage with, not racial glasses. Welcome to VA!
