What was the life like of a British Soldier and American Soldier in the American Revolution?
please help! 10 points best answer
One uniform, no change of clothes. Cold, no sleeping bags, only blankets on the ground. Troops slept in tents with no floors while officers slept in houses as guests (sometimes uninvited guests). Food was scarce by today's standards. A thin stew of low quality meat and vegetables (called herbs back then) and a piece of rock hard break called hard tack for meals.
Officers were almost always the younger sons of noblemen in the British Army, and they were the younger sons of wealthy land owners in the Continental Army. So it was really two sides of the same coin.
Officers controlled every aspect of a unit. There was no such thing as due process. If you were thought to be disrespectful to an officer you could be flogged or publicly beaten or humiliated.
The positive side for the British troops is that they received steady income in a very uncertain world. They could also rise up the enlisted ranks if they lived long enough.
Disease killed as many men as bullets. Things that a doctor could cure in a day would kill a man back then. Badly broken arms or legs had to be amputated. The only medicine was whiskey, opium, and cocoa plant (cocaine) extracts.
Hygeine was not even thought of. Men would be unwashed for weeks or months because of their locations or simple laziness combines with not wanting to strip down and was off during a 10 below zero Lake Erie morning.

Are British Soldiers Risking Their Lives?
so that Afghan women can have an education? If so shouldn't we try to educate our own first because most kids leaving skool can't reed or right.
I think the difference is that in Britain you actually have schools for people. You can't blame the system if the students are not interested in learning. As far as soldiers risking their lives is concerned I think they should all come home and leave the hopeless useless Afghans to themselves. I don't see the point in anyone getting killed or injured for that bunch of backward hillbillies.
