Can a Dexter cow be transported in the back of a pickup truck?
I've worked with cows and animals before in the farm setting, but not so much with the transporting of them. Where the Dexter is so small, can they be transported in the back of a pickup (uncovered, but tethered in)? I'm looking at acquiring a 2-year old cow either 33 or 36 inches tall (I haven't decided on which animal yet). While anyone can comment, I would love feedback from people with experience or good links to online sources of information, so please also tell me if you have experience or first-hand knowledge of this. Thanks!
A trailer would be best, but if secured correctly it would work. I would check with local ordinances to make sure that it is not illegal to transport livestock without a trailer.

Hmm what to do is a situation where you must turn away one person..?
Okay I posted up a free item(s) on Craigslist.. it's just a used but nice box spring and mattress..
Now some young guy called me interested in the bed set and he sounded very downtrodden and laid down his problems to me; (i got to play therapist) anyways I felt bad - but we couldn't do the deal because he couldn't transport the set & my trucks being repaired..so I told him call me back in a few days..
Now another person (couple) emailed me just now and also are very interested in the bed. They used words like "miracle" and "please pick us","searching everywhere for a good deal"...etc... you get the point..
So I'm thinking maybe wait a few days and see if my truck gets finished - and call the kid (sounded like he was in his 20's ;living on his own) ... I'm thinking the couple have each other and they might be more supported per-say.. but I kind of feel like giving it to them because they can pick up a.s.a.p.
either way I think it's gonna stink shooing one away.
I've been through similar circumstances. The item goes to the person who can pay the price and take it away. It is a risk for you to do otherwise. The young fellow may not show up and then you've lost a good buyer. It is not fair to ask the couple to wait until you see if you have another buyer. First come, first serve.
Now this doesn't mean you cannot help the young man. If you wish, refer him to the Salvation Army or other charitable organization
