Jousting Set
What was the name of that film...?
It was a swashbuckler set in the Middle Ages and featured knights, swordfights, jousting, etc,. There was one scene where two drugged goblets of wine on a table were continually switched, so that nobody knew which was which. This scene went on for a long time and got more and more absurd and funny. At least that's the way I remember it!
I was about 10 years old when I first saw this film on TV, so the year was about 1975, but the film was clearly much older than that. It was most definitely NOT 'The Princess Bride', which was made in 1987, though the scene with the goblets was certainly similar.
Anyway it has bugged me for years that I don't know the name of this film -- and I've never seen it repeated!
The movie you are talking about is "The Court Jester" with Danny Kaye. It comes on TV every once in awhile, but I'm sure you could get your hands on a copy off of eBay or Amazon.com.
Hawkins: I've got it! I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
Griselda: Right. But there's been a change: they broke the chalice from the palace!
Hawkins: They *broke* the chalice from the palace?
Griselda: And replaced it with a flagon.
Hawkins: A flagon...?
Griselda: With the figure of a dragon.
Hawkins: Flagon with a dragon.
Griselda: Right.
Hawkins: But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
Griselda: No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!

Sisters gone crazy! There might be a fight?
My sisters have gone nuts. I just had two twins and on Saturday we're having a ceremony to honor their birth. We decided my sisters would be their godmothers but they can't make up their mind which twin they went. First my sister BE wanted Marabella, then she wanted Magdalena. Now my sister AriesJillie is furious and wants to make her choice. I can't deal with them fighting right now. I have a party to plan, a husband to counsel, a wet nurse, a nanny and my in-laws to keep under control. I'm thinking about setting up a jousting post outside a la American Gladiators and having them work it out that way. My question is if there is a fight would it be so horrible to put my money on one sister?
Make the choice yourself. Don't let them have any say.
If there is going to be a fight make sure you book a venue large enough for the crowd. Set ticket prices so your wet nurse and nanny's friends can afford to attend. Set the odds correctly so you can get a lot of action at the betting windows.
