Nine soldiers perish in road accident
Do headlines from the Associated Press like the following make you rethink the Iraq war?
A U.S. Army helicopter went down south of Baghdad Thursday, injuring four of the nine soldiers aboard, while five U.S. troops died in separate attacks in Baghdad. Also, in the deadliest blow to Britain since November, four British soldiers and a Kuwaiti interpreter were killed in an ambush in southern Iraq, the British military said.
No they do not - and if you think about it, they should not. The AP has been caught spreading misinformation on several occasions and is not telling you the whole story.
A prudent person would ask questions of people who have been there in order to verify that what they are seeing in the news is accurate. Instead you do everything you can to rationalize away the observations of people who have actually been in Iraq (namely the troops).
