Anyone who's been watching cape wrath on c4?
Anyone know the artist who sang the song that meadowlands have adopted as their theme tune.
It starts with "drums keep pounding a rhythm to my brain"
I think the song title is "the beat goes on", i know it was covered in the late ninties by the all seeing eye, but i really want to know who the original artist is and if i have the title correct.

"Beat Goes On", a remixed cover of the song by Sonny and Cher (or rather, a cover of Buddy Rich's version of the song and using the all-female vocals from his version).

| | Cape Fear $10.83 Rated: RSynopsis: An unusually daring thriller that inspired controversy upon its theatrical release in 1962, Cape Fear broke new ground in its cinematic depiction of terrorization with sadistic and sexual components. Robert Mitchum portrays the villain superbly, bringing quiet menace to his depiction of the cruel ex-convict bent on revenge. The object of his terror is a small-town Georgia lawyer (played by Gregory Peck as initially stolid but eventually unnerved) who he believes is responsible for his imprisonment. MacDonald's pulpy novel The Executioners and adapted it into a cinematic classic of riveting suspense. Taut and gripping, its Hitchcockian verisimilitude enhanced by a suitably eerie Bernard Herrmann score, Cape Fear is the progenitor of literally hundreds of subsequent movies and TV shows that have mined the same vein. And even though others have hit paydirt, this is the one that struck the mother lode. The DVD offers a documentary covering the film's production, along with still galleries, production notes, cast and director highlights, trailers, and DVD-ROM content. After an eight-year prison term for rape and assault, Max Cady (Robert Mitchum) is set free. Immediately making a beeline to Sam Bowden (Gregory Peck), the former prosecutor responsible for Cady's conviction, Cady laconically informs Sam that he intends to "pay back" the attorney for his years behind bars. Conducting a meticulous campaign of terror, Cady is careful to stay within the law. Sam, realizing that Cady intends to wreak vengeance by raping the attorney's wife (Polly Bergen) and daughter (Lori Martin), tries to put the ex-criminal behind bars, but has no grounds to do so. Chief Dutton (Martin Balsam) tries to help Sam with a few strong-arm tactics, but succeeds only in having the courts take Cady's side in the matter. Things come to a head when Sam moves his family to the "safety" of a remote houseboat on Cape Fear river. Cady shows up unannounced and is about to ravage Bowden's wife and daughter and when Sam turns the tables. And I have never seen the 1962 version. And I'm pretty sure the characters act differently, which set of characters do you like better?
That's a toughie. While the original was dead on scary and Robert Mitchum gave one of his best performances in it(as another psychotic murderer)there was more to it than that. He understood the character and was willing to go as far as the censors would allow to show how really creepy this guys was. Fast forward. Martin Scorsese did the almost impossible. He improved in some aspects on a dazzling original piece of work and his choices were right all the way down the line,Deniro is scorching in the role played by Mitchum, including(for movie freaks like myself)some of the stars in the original in cameo roles)He even used the Bernard Herrman score to great effect and came out with a masterwork. It should be standard for students of the cinema. They should call the lecture,How To Do A Kicka$$ Remake. But in some ways, the remake is actually better than the original

While I find the original Cape Fear to be better than Scorsese’s version, I’m not a big fan of either. Thompson’s picture felt like the last gasp of the original run of true film noirs. Everything in the movie feels flat. Mitchum’s performance also harks back to Harry Powell and suffers appropriately.
