Pioneer Trail

How was the Oregon trail essential to the Americans. US HIstory?
Basically i'm trying to write my thesis up and here's a rough copy of what i've come up with *idea wise) so far: The Oregon Trail exploration, though it was helpful with westward expansion for Americans in terms of being the first major westward movement, proved to be fatal for the thousands of native American tribes that were killed by both the white man’s diseases and the depletion of their supplemental natural resources as a result of the travelers uncaring attitude of “leaving no trace” which ultimately resulted in retaliation and increased agitation between native Americans and the Oregon Trail pioneers.
I feel my first sentence on the "helpfullness" is way too general and i'd like to tidy it up a bit - any suggestions?
Your original question is associated with how 'essential the Oregon Trail was to Americans'......do you mean European Americans, or as your continuing 'thesis' goes....is it what happened to Native Americans?
There is a mixed message here....
Your opinion concerning the fate of Native Americans is correct, but that was not your question, as I read it.
The Oregon Trail opened the way for the westward expansion of Europeans into the west. This emigration also brought European trade, merchants, agriculture, [farmers and ranchers], cities, towns, and other European influences to this territory, which in turn became several states.
It follows most historical occupations and colonizations recorded in history from the ancient world to the modern, and although not the most agreeable morally, this is the answer to your original question.

Baba Yetu - Pioneer Trail
what is the best bike you can buy for around $260 new?
Im trying to help someone buy a nice bicycle for around $260. Bikes that cost $300 and over are out of my price range. Im aware that theres some good used bikes out there but, its for a christmas present so new would be best. So far I've found a 2007 marin pioneer trail HT but, not much else. Im hoping theres some other 2007 year bikes by different makers like GT or Specialized that are within the $260 but haven't been able to find them yet for sale. Any kind of HT mountain bike or hybrid style is what Im looking for. Thanks
Wow. Am I spoiled if I never bought a bike under $1,000? I cant imagine owning a bike that costs $260 new. Why dont you shop on ebay and get a really nice one used? For $260 new you would get crap components and a really heavy frame.
